Apple (AAPL.US) unveiled the new generation AirPods Pro 3 at the iPhone 17 launch event on Tuesday, the first entirely new model in 3 years. The new model is equipped with a heart rate sensor, enhanced active noise cancellation and real-time translation capabilities.
The AirPods Pro 3 is priced at US$249, with pre-orders available on the website starting Tuesday Eastern Time, and shipments commencing on 19 September.
The AirPods Pro 3 activates AI live translation by receiving audio through the microphone, translating it and playing it back through the earbuds.
Two people can wear the new AirPods Pro 3 simultaneously to engage in conversations without a common language, Apple said. It can also be used in conjunction with an iPhone to provide translation functions on the screen.
The new device features a heart rate sensor that works with the iPhone to track users' pulse and calculate calories burned during exercise. Its battery life has also been extended from the previous 6 hours to 8 hours.
